Motto:
"To take off a mask you first need to put it on. I think of women in my photographs as beautiful landscapes. But than a crack in the wall can be a beautiful landscape, too."
“My photography is the result of fascination of women’s body. Body not necessarily beautiful in agreement with common done canons. The more imperfect body is more fascinating for me. I incite my models to reveal
their dreams and obsessions they even don’t realize. After session suddenly they begin to have consciousness of their own power and independence. They are not skivvies, scrub women and mascots of their male partners anymore. I like strong women who resist to the mental and physical power. On my pictures they dominate themselves by their image. The men begin to feel the distance or even fear in front of them.I like it. It is a specific psychotherapy for me and for my models Psychotherapy for their complexes, and for me waking real my dreams of them. During our sessions very close relations are being struck up between us. In my childhood I had a doll, that I liked to change the cloths of. (Now I change the cloths of my models.) Later I was with a partner who’s one chest was amputated. The scar after Amputation was fascinating me from the whole her body the most. It seemed to me in the link with herself endlessly beautiful. Thanks to that she stopped to have complexes because of it. I am writing down my models’ declarations and put them on the bottom of their pictures in masks. On one hand I create them after my manner, on the other – I’m showing who they really are. Sometimes I am scratching my comments directly on the plate.Masks are my obsession as well. Anonymity what they give, is apparent.Sometimes you can learn more about someone with the mask on his face, because the mask provides the distance what brace him to show his true face.I don’t want you to regard the nakedness of my models as a provocation. I think rather then the people indignant at my works didn’t take the troubleTo look at them with attention, or they are not prepared for their perception. There is not pornography in my pictures. In that what I’m doing I would name brave showing someone’s image. I am satisfied if on my exhibition I can find even one spectator who is able to understand my works. For such a person I’m working. Maybe my early adolescence in the circle of women caused such a strong interest in them. My works I stylize to a style of the pictures from the beginning of the photography. Old scratched daguerreotypes and glass plates that is my fascination. They have unique atmosphere of mysteriousness, which you can’t attain in another way. | |
